What I Want To Do With This Blog …

Alternative or Complementary Medicine is too Politically Correct a term for me.

Medicine is just medicine. It does not matter where it comes from – it is just medicine. So let’s talk about medicine.

  • Is Nutrition important and why?
  • Is Acupuncture worthwhile?
  • Why use Herbs when there are drugs?
  • Is Naturopathy a hoax or a beneficial form of healing?

Nutrition is the grey area of health. No one quite understands it. I think most people are getting it wrong. Also from what I see even the experts are confused.

So what is the best diet? Is the Paleo Diet the best eating system or is being a Vegan better? Should we go back to the Meat and Three Veg from the 40s & 50s or is the Mediterranean Diet a better option? Should we eat a Culturally Specific Diet for optimal Health and nutrition or is this just playing with words? Are Carbs really that bad for humans? What is the best way to eat?

In short what is the best diet profile for humans?

Acupuncture … this is the Chinese wonder kid on this block. It can do everything from clearing pain, bolstering, strengthening and supporting the immune system as well as balancing hormones. But it cannot fix everything.

It is great for some problems, it is ok for others and not good for a few.

Sports injuries, back and neck pain, stomach problems and digestion and menstruation issues, etc. These are areas that Acupuncture shines in. But there are some areas that are not so bright.

Let’s find out more and start to understand where Acupuncture sits in the medical landscape.

Chinese Medicine or Chinese Herbalism is the herbal part of the Chinese medical arts. Just like all of the world’s herbal traditions, Chinese Medicine looks to find cures and treatments for all of our ills. In reality it is a great complement to Acupuncture and it fills in the gaps between the two.

Generally speaking if you cannot fix something with one then you can use the other. Additionally the two are used together to enhance and speed up the recovery and healing process.

Of course they each have their strengths and weaknesses. Let’s explore both here.

Naturopathy known as “The Natural Medicine”. It is comprised of Western Herbalism, Supplementation, Nutrition and diet, as well as Physical Therapies. All of these put together bring a seemingly complete set of tools to the table.

With Natureopathy just like all of the natural types of therapies you need to take responsibility for your health. Plus you need to be involved.

In some cases Natureopathy it is slower. In most cases it is safer. Plus you do not need to worry about damaging pharmaceutical drugs effects

With that being said, let’s look to the front.

Many years ago I asked myself a question.  There are so many different forms of medicine in the world.  Therefore there are so many different ways to treat diseases and build health and wellness.  Of all of these methods which ways are the best for each condition.

This leads to a study in itself.  Generally I have found that some ways are better than others.  The challenge is to find the best way for you. That is what I want to explore with this blog.

Take this journey and explore health, treatment options and nutrition. Let’s look at the use of these modalities and see how well they work.

Let us examine everything with truth and honesty, science, understanding, fact and lots and lots of commonsense. And let’s try to make it as simple as possible.

I am not beholden to any one, any company or any supplier. I don’t owe anyone any favours. I will speak from my basis of knowledge and from what I know and what I have seen. As well as looking at research, history and what commonsense tells us.

Hopefully this is interesting, refreshing and more importantly helpful.

Peter.
